Oaxaca, Mexico to Home – Day 78-79

March 28 and 29, 2024

Today, after breakfast, was all about packing our suitcases as it was our last day in Oaxaca. We had arranged to stay at the hotel until 6pm since our first flight home was at 8pm only. Our room was already rented so they moved us to another room.

We met Max for lunch then I went to visit some hotels with her for future tours and we also did some shopping. Pogo went back to the room as he was all shopped out 🙂

6pm came way too quickly and it was hard to say goodbye to Max.

We loved our hotel and the staff had been exceptional and we would definitely stay there again given the chance.

We flew from Oaxaca to Mexico City and went to the Aeromexico lounge. We had been there only 45 minutes, without eating or drinking yet, when they told us that the lounge was closing….We decided to find another one, which was another Aeromexico, just a few hundred feet away. It was much bigger and fuller but had only soup and chips so we decided to go to the American Express lounge instead. It was 10:15pm by then. They were not too welcoming. They told us that they were closing at 11pm but that they would stop serving drinks and food at 10:30pm. They also only had margarita or pepperoni pizzas . We decided to stay anyway as boarding for our next flight was at 11:20pm. We both ordered pepperoni pizzas and got margaritas….I had asked for a double glass of wine and they brought me 2.

We took the red eye from Mexico City to Montreal and arrived at 6:45am. Pogo slept most of the flight but I slept for 30 minutes only. I ended up eating raviolis at 2am and it was quite delicious. We were the only people at the airport so it went really fast. We had no problems finding our car in the parking lot. The only hiccup was having to wait 45 minutes at the border.

Pogo had to stop to check the pickleball courts on the way home. We stopped to get a few groceries and finally we were home sweet home!

On a happy note, Elaine’s daughter and Max’s good friend Jessica had her baby girl Ruby!!
