Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 33-34

February 12 and 13, 2024

Our friends Irene and Craig were supposed to arrive today but they unfortunately had to cancel. We were looking forward showing them around but maybe they can reschedule for next year.

Since Martha was coming to clean the condo, we decided to go for breakfast (like we need a reason to go for breakfast…). We went to a new restaurant, La Casona, at La Villa Estancia Beach Resort and Spa, an hotel at the end of our street. We had made a reservation for Valentine’s Day dinner there since all the other places we had tried were already booked, and we wanted to check it out. The resort has mostly timeshares but condos can be rented by the week with the option of being all inclusive as well. We decided on the buffet because we were told that picking from the menu would take 40-45 minutes as they were short staffed. The selection of fruits and breads was great and fresh. The hot food selection was plentiful but cold. It wasn’t worth the $75 it cost. Also 15% tip had been automatically added for the waitress who brought us coffee and orange juice only.

The resort looked nice, the beach portion was very narrow. They had a restaurant by the pool for lunch and it was pricey.

Pogo went for a haircut. We saw a lot of dolphins again. They were running away from the crocodiles I think. They probably had no intention of starting a new species of crocrophins. HaHaHa! I had to share my brother’s crazy imagination.

We had another lesson of pickleball. Pogo is definitely learning a few new moves. I am just happy to be able to hit the ball with no pain in my elbow.

We had dinner at home and finished the series the traitor.

Tuesday morning, I went with Josée to the market. We got a coffee then took our time walking around. We made a few purchases, drove back home and met the boys at the beach. We had decided to go next door to La Gaviota for lunch but they were closed so we continued walking on the beach and went to the Sabbia Beach Club, a big name for a little beach restaurant. Mario had chicken nachos and the rest of us had fish tacos. The food was good so we will have to go back.

Back at the condo, we sat under our beach palapa and Josée and I played a game of dice while the boys took a snooze. We said no gracias to all the beach vendors despite wanting to buy everything from the little kids. We ended up having margaritas and snacks on our balcony later on because I was getting chilly on the beach. The weather has been weird lately. It has been really cloudy and it will be until Saturday.

We decided to go to Tarantella for dinner. Pogo had the chicken parmesan and the rest of us had the best lasagna ever! We will definitely be back there for it. I’m already drooling just thinking about it.

Shaun’s travels update:

Sarah and him have been enjoying their fishing a lot, from the dock and from kayaking on Webb Lake. They caught some Mayan cichlids and largemouth among others. They went to Fisherman’s Village and had some yummy mahi mahi bites. I’m glad they went to Florida as it has been sunny and warm for them unlike the cloudy weather of late from here.

  1. those bags are so cute! and I want to go to that Italian restaurant next year! Derrick and I are doing Intermittent Fasting. Since my bad time for noshing is evening, I’m eating only from 3pm to 9 pm… It’s 2:01 right now and I’m about to chew off my arm. Derrick is eating 11 -7. He eats 8 hours window, I’m doing a 6 hour window… it’s amazing how much you can eat in 6 hours, hahaha! Enjoying your writing as always! Keep it up and say hi to Pogo and Maro and Josee! xxoo D
