Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 11-12

January 21 and 22, 2024

We left just after 9am to go to the La Cruz Sunday market. By the time we arrived at 9:20am, the parking lot was already quite full. We bought a few presents, I bought a top and we bought some food. It was already hot and Mom’s energy was still not back, so we didn’t stay long. It was long enough though as it was getting crowded.

We got back at 11am and had some of the quiche and pickles we had bought. Pogo and I prepared some snacks for later then he left to wash the car, fill it up with gas before going to switch it for a bigger car, on his way to the airport to pick Sherry and Dan up. I stayed at the condo with Mom, organized and picked up the place.

Derrick, Deidre, Moira and Andrew had arrived 30 minutes before Sherry and Dan and had taken a taxi to the car rental place. They went to do a quick grocery before getting to the condo they had rented in the building next to us. Pogo arrived with our guests around 4pm. Everyone came over for guacamole, pico de gallo, jicama and margaritas. We then went to visit the beautiful penthouse that Derrick and Deidre had rented. We watched the sunset then all went, except for Mom and Deidre, to Al Pastor Sonorita for a quick and delicious dinner. Everybody went to bed early, tired from their day of travel.

Monday morning we had a quick session of essentrics stretching with our favorite teacher Sherry on the top floor of the penthouse before I had to go to physical therapy at 9am. Unfortunately this year, my therapist will be Ishmael who doesn’t speak English and my Spanish leaves to be desired so it was a long session in silence. I tried to explain a few things and he obviously didn’t understand what I meant.

We met everyone at La Isla for breakfast then some of us went to the pool and some went shopping. We went to play pickleball at 5pm and Josée and Diane joined us. We went back home to take showers then went to Riviera Grill for dinner at 7:30pm. We all had delicious meals but for Pogo who had the seared tuna which was really tough.

Maxime’s update: Her and Luna went to the Batu Caves during the celebrations of Thaipusam festival and she said that it was one of her best days ever. One of the best cultural events she had ever experienced. She said it was insane. She is now in Brunei.
