Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 9-10

January 19 and 20, 2024

I had an appointment at 9:30am with Dr Edgar at SportFix to discuss my elbow and my knees. We arranged to continue the same treatments I was doing at home with my physical therapist with the ultrasound and TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). He also gave my a cortisone shot in my elbow. He said I should know in a couple of days if it will work or not. He wanted to see the x-rays of my elbow taken by the doctor back home as well so I need to call them on Monday.

We did a small grocery at Mega but their fruits were really bad so we went to La Comer to get some afterwards.

We took Mom to La Gaviota next door for a shrimp taco lunch and it was just as good as always.

Before we knew it, it was 4pm and we were sitting in a stretched limo, reserved by Mario and Josée as a surprise to Diane on her birthday! We sipped champagne, listened to music and laughed all the way to the zona romantica in Puerto Vallarta. We walked the Malecon for a while, saw a huge crocodile on the beach and found a place to have a drink. It was happy hour so we actually had 2 drinks. We always go with the flow 🙂

Dinner was at Noroc, right by the ocean. Edward and Michel had treated us to it last year and it had been delicious so we were looking forward to going back when we found out that our friends had made a reservation there. It ended up being a little disappointing. Our friends who are wine connoisseurs were disappointed in the selection of wines, or the lack of it, and ordered cocktails instead. The food took forever to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t busy. The menu was different from last year and the variety wasn’t really appealing so most of us had the salmon which was good but cold. The very expensive steak was apparently really not good at all. We were there for 3 hours and didn’t have desserts or coffees. It was still a great evening spend with great friends.

We took 2 taxis back home. We shared ours with Stéphane and Chantal and laughed all the way back because Pogo hated every songs that the taxi driver had on his playlist: a bunch of Air Supply, Spandau Ballet, etc but he didn’t want to embarrass the driver by asking him to switch the music. He suffered through it all and I was thankful that he didn’t have a knife otherwise he might have sliced his wrists.

The next morning we went to Mr Cream for breakfast with Mom. She was starting to feel much better and she was coughing a lot less. I brought to Diane the flowers we had bought for her birthday but didn’t have time to give her yesterday, then we spent the afternoon at the condo with Mom resting on the balcony and me blogging, doing laundry and getting ready for our company arriving tomorrow. We went for a dip in the pool then Pogo and I got ready to go have dinner at Dee and Michel. Mom opted out as she had started coughing again and wanted to be extra careful not to spread germs.

We had a lovely time. We sat on the balcony, had appetizers and watched the sunset. Michel and I took a bunch of pictures. Dee had told us that they couldn’t see the sunset from their balcony but she said that probably it would happen only in mid February. We had lamb chops for dinner as well as baked potatoes, rice, stewed vegetables and a salad. We enjoyed a mariachi band playing on the balcony of the next door tower. Mom was in bed when we got home. She said that she had been coughing a lot during the evening. I think she needs to drink a lot more water.

Maxime’s update:

She finally reunited with Luna in Kuala Lumpur after 2 years! They will stay there for a few nights, planning their next month travels to Borneo, Brunei and the Philippines.
