Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 1-2

January 11 & 12, 20

Despite a huge winter storm on January 9th all over Vermont the day before we left, which luckily missed South Hero, travel day went smoothly. Unfortunately the storm affected Shaun, and as I write this (on January 13th), he still has no power at his house. He has been staying at our house with Max. We drove to Montreal to stay overnight at the airport and Max drove our car back. She will start her next travel adventure next week.

Mom was traveling with us and because of having her in a wheelchair and being in first class, we had no wait whatsoever and were in front of every lines. We told Mom that she will always be traveling with us from now on.

We arrived in Puerto Vallarta at 3pm after a 6 hour flight which was supposed to be 6h30m and it felt so long. We wondered if they now take a different route because it has always been 5hrs to 5h30m maximum.

We were out of the busy airport in no time, went to get our rental car, stopped to get a few groceries and were at the condo around 5pm. We noticed that they had changed all the doors and had even more knickknacks for us to move out of the way.

I started emptying my suitcase while Pogo and Mom took a nap. Mario and Josée had invited us for dinner but Mom opted out as she felt under the weather and tired. We had Josée’s fantastic lasagna and Mario’s cheesy garlic bread with pesto. So yummy! We have to remember to always arrive after them!! Haha!

Friday morning, we of course had breakfast at La Isla. Andreas was there since the morning bartender had quit. It was really nice seeing him as he usually works at nighttime. We were early because of all the errands we needed to do and we didn’t see Graciela. The restaurant looked really nice. They had move the cage of the parrots so they have more space for tables. They also have tablecloths and napkin holders from Oaxaca. Max must have inspired them. Andreas first questions were about Max: where was she in Mexico? Was she still with the Mexican boyfriend?

We went back to the condo, made sure Mom had everything that she needed and Pogo and I went to Costco and La Comer. Almost 4 hours later, we were back. We had a quick sandwich and after emptying all the groceries, I washed all fruits and veggies. It’s a long process, probably an hour to soak the fruits in batches then rinse them in fresh water, let them dry then put them in container. I’m considering skipping all that next time and taking my chances with belly problems…

After Pogo and Mom’s naps, they decided to go to the pool but by then I was just finishing putting the fruits away and was tired so I skipped the pool to take a little rest.

We had a kind of caprese with pesto pizza from Costco for dinner and it was actually very good. We were not able to get our normal shows from home with our fire stick so we started an old BBC tv series called The inspector Alleyn Mysteries, a Scotland Yard 1930 whodunit series filmed in the 1990.
