El Cuyo, Mexico – Day 6

Las Coloradas

December 21, 2023

We had store bought sweet blueberry bread and bananas for breakfast before being picked up for a morning of adventuring.

Our guide Saul, owner of Aventurate El Cuyo, brought us on a five hours tour through Parque Lagartos, a nature preserve, all the way to Las Coloradas. We saw many pink flamingos, two big alligators, hatched turtles eggs, lots of birds, iguanas, a pink lake and deserted beaches with tons of shells but unfortunately also lots of washed up garbage from the sea. We saw a big harvesting salt factory in the town of Las Coloradas.

On our return, at the recommendation of Saul, we walked to Los Navios to have lunch then Michel and Edward went for a short walk while the rest of us walked home. Pogo went to bed, still dealing with his cold. He tested for the second time since starting his cold and he’s still negative for Covid. Max worked on her pictures and Shaun and I sat in the sun. When Michel and Edward came back, we went to dip our toes in the frigid ocean and my three bandaids covering my blisters came off. Jeez.

3:30pm was nap time. We all took it easy until 7pm when we went to Zapotec for dinner. Pogo, Max and Shaun had burgers, Michel and I had steak and Edward had short ribs.

On the way home, Max started the wipers, for the first time, to clean the dust from the windshield and one of the wipers came off. Jeez.

We all went to bed pretty early.
