Holbox, Mexico – Day 2

December 17, 2023

We met for breakfast at 9am without Max who we all know is not an early riser. She met us as we were ready to go for a walk since the wind was really bad and it definitely was not a beach day. We stopped somewhere for Max to have breakfast and some piggies had a second breakfast. I won’t embarrass them by mentioning their names but let’s call them Taun and Michael just for fun. We did a little shopping and Edward bought a hat and Michel a t-shirt. Walking around town was quite the adventure as there wasn’t one street that wasn’t flooded. We just had to find our way around without getting our feet too muddy. We were all wearing water shoes but Shaun.

Max had bought googly eyes for all of us and we had fun and some good laughs finding places to put them on. A bunch of them, we just put them on to take a picture and removed them tight after but it was funny nonetheless. We all had our own colored eyes and mine were blue.

We stopped at a beach bar for a drink and snacks then walked back to the hotel for a rest. At 5:45pm we walked to another beach bar to watch the sunset then we went to dinner to a place called Magma. The food was really good but it took forever to get our meals and to get our bill.

Holbox is an island north of the Yucatán peninsula and is usually a paradise of white sandy beaches and turquoise water. It hasn’t been the case for us so far as the water has been rough with waves because of the wind. We are hoping for less wind before we leave so we can enjoy the beach.
