After a great wedding weekend in New Jersey celebrating Jenn (Heather’s daughter) and Dennis, having Persian and Indian food, visiting Edison’s warehouse and Washington Headquarters Museum, we made our way to the airport for our 11:55pm flight. Being in business class was quite a treat. Even faster access through security than with TSA precheck.
I had a mimosa without orange juice, Michel’s signature drink when flying. Our first meal was served immediately after takeoff. They first brought us a salad, a selection of cheeses, olive bread, prosciutto and tomato appetizer as well as a crab salad on toast and some desserts, accompanied by a glass of pouilly fuissé. When I was totally full, they brought us our entrées: lamb for me and fish for Pogo. I started watching a 2015 movie called U.N.C.L.E. based on a series that I used to watch as a kid: men from UNCLE.
They gave us a little pouch with socks, eye mask, toothbrush, toothpaste, fancy lotions so we used our eye masks, reclined our chairs to the lay flat position, snuggled in our blanket and slept from 1:30am to 5am when they woke us up for breakfast. Oh well, so I took the opportunity to finish the movie while having yogurt, fruits, granola a brioche and a croissant. I can’t say that I was hungry but at least I had a few bites.
The flight ended up being only 6 hours and we arrived in Paris at 12:25pm local time. After walking in zigzag all over the airport, we took an Uber to our hotel Pratic and arrived at 2:30pm. Our rooms were so small, we had to take turn to take a nap. We took a quick shower then went walking around our neighborhood called Le Marais in the 4th arrondissement.
We went to Place des Vosges and walked to the Notre Dame Cathedral. It was amazing to see all the scaffoldings and work still going on since the fire of April 2019.
We had a drink in a little café, were successful figuring out the public curbside toilets after many tries, had dinner at Le Chanard, had escargots, raw quail and steak. By then we were fading away, so we went back to the hotel

What a great first day. Love me a mimosa hold the orange juice drink.
