Nuevo Nayarit Day 66

March 16, 2023

I caught up on sleep and woke up at 7:45am. We took it easy all morning. Josée and Mario surprised us with some delicious Danish pastries from a French café they love to go to.

We left the condo around noon to switch cars at the rental place. On the way we stopped for Pogo to have a haircut. I had time to catch up a little bit with Irene by Facetime. I also made arrangement with Fernanda to clean our house before we come back.

We finally got a small size SUV and couldn’t be happier to not have to “sit on the ground” anymore. It is a lot easier on our knees. We saw a Apple map car driving around. They certainly need to improve their information for this region as their directions never show the lateral exits needed to be taken before turning left. Google maps has the right directions.

We had lunch at La Isla and shared a club sandwich and a Caesar salad.

Max send us a few pictures of herself discovering Medellin.

I heard from my cousin Guylaine and unfortunately her dad, my godfather, is not doing well. He has been on strong antibiotics for a prostate infection and his vital organs are slowly giving up. I talked to her for 1 1/2 hrs. It was extremely sad especially after losing my aunt Lise a few weeks ago. He is the last one of his generation of Lapointe to still be alive. He has always been so funny and loving. At 95, he is still my cousin’s pillar and she will be lost without him.

We finally went to Tacos Junior in Bucerias for dinner. Pogo had been wanting to go every since he spotted it on our drive back from San Blas. We shared 8 small tacos between the 2 of us: al pastor, chicken and chorizo. It was just OK. The bill was great though. 214 pesos for 8 tacos and 2 sodas. $12 usd including the tip. You can’t beat that.

On our walk back to the car, we stopped at Toscana Mia, another Italian restaurant that we had heard of. We ran into Graham and his wife Judy, pickleball players from Pogo’s group and chatted for awhile. They said the food at Toscana Mia was excellent but agreed with our impression that the small enclosed dining room was dark, loud and claustrophobic.

We came home, watched the Mandolorian and went to bed.

I forgot to take an horizontal picture today for my blog heading so I picked a random one from the grocery store a few days ago! Haha!
