Nuevo Nayarit Day 44-45

February 22 and 23, 2023

Pogo couldn’t play pickleball for a week so he brought Max and Hernan to Punta de Mita so they could go on a Mariettas Island/Hidden Beach excursion. After doing a few loads of laundry, I went to play pickleball for an hour and a half. Pogo picked me up so I could get home quickly to take a shower before picking Michel and Edward at the airport. It was so good to see them!

Max and Hernan came back at the condo at almost the same time as us, after taking a Uber. We went next door to La Gaviota for lunch. We took a swim, naps were taken and Michel and I were able to do a Facetime with Tante Lise. Even though she was having a hard time talking, she was very happy to see us and Michel being Michel, made all of us laugh.

We went for dinner at La Isla at 8pm and celebrated Hernan’s upcoming birthday and our last night with Max. The moon was surrounded with Jupiter and Mars. It was amazing to see!

The next morning, Pogo, Edward, Michel and I walked to Starbucks and on our way home stopped at La Isla for breakfast. We came home at 10:15am just in time for me to help Max pack her suitcase as she was panicking. We left the house at 11:15am to bring Max and Hernan to the airport (I am going to miss her so much!). She was going to Oaxaca to start her new tour on Saturday. Hernan was going to Veracruz to visit his brother.

We went back to the condo to pick Michel and Edward up and we spent all afternoon showing them the little towns along the Ameca river. We saw a dog riding on the top of the cab of a pickup truck. He was on it for the few miles we followed them. We saw a funeral. We saw a fair being put together in a tiny town. We made a few stop so Edward and Pogo could drone. We went to visit a colorful cemetery, stopped at the small dam (the river was the driest we have ever seen it) and ate at the Ameca River Restaurant. We stopped at a tiny panaderia and picked up a sweet breads and cookies. We shared some of the cookies with a bunch of coatis on our way home. All day long, our phones kept switching time.

We ate a late dinner of filet mignons, mushrooms and salad at home with a nice bottle of wine.
