January 10-17, 2023
Pogo had realized that he had left his 360 camera in the trunk of the 4 wheeler at the excursion yesterday. He drove to the property where we had parked. One of the gate doors was opened so he drove to the house. Some guard was there. Pogo explained what had happened. He found the camera in the vehicle. The guard told him he was lucky to have the gate opened since he had just stopped by for a few minutes. It’s all about timing!
We left El Cuyo at 8;30am and drove through many little typical Mexican villages for about an hour until arriving to the highway to Cancun. 3 hours later, we dropped the car at Alamo and they were very efficient and had us in the shuttle to the airport within 15 minutes. We first flew 2 hours to Mexico City, had a small bite at a lounge and flew a little over an hour to Puerto Vallarta. We had first class tickets and on the second flight, they put a tray in the middle seat to designate first class…We arrived in PV at 8:30pm and because it was a local flight, we didn’t have to go through customs so it went really fast. Our car rental agency had dropped off our car at the small airport parking lot so we were at the condo by 9:30pm.
We noticed that they had painted the whole place, the doors of the laundry closet were new, there was new artwork on the wall, the electricity had been worked on and they had fixed all the problems we had noticed last year. We even had a new comforter. We had only one pillow on the bed though so stole the ones from the other rooms. They also took paintings away and they removed dishes, towels, cloth napkins and even utensils. We found out from our friends later on that there was a major water leak that came from the 6th floor a few months back and all the condos underneath it had to have work done.
In the morning, we took a covid test and I was negative but unfortunately Pogo was still positive so we decided not to go to La Isla for breakfast, afraid Pogo could infect Graciela and Andres when we would obviously catch up with them. We went to Mama Nena instead and had a lovely breakfast.
We spent the remaining of the day shopping at the very busy Costco and La Comer. On our return, we emptied the groceries, I did 3 loads of laundry and spent almost an hour soaking and washing fruits and vegetables. I also emptied my suitcases. I was pooped.
Pogo made some chicken enchiladas for dinner and made enough to bring to Mario and Josee at 7:30pm, who had just arrived from Montreal with their 4 years old grandson Ryan. I made them some margaritas. We said a quick hello and went back down to our condo. We talked with Max for about an hour and went to bed early again.
The rest of the week was spent relaxing and getting better. We went to a few restaurants (I included lots of food pictures, just for Mom!!), drove to Punta de Mita for lunch one day, went to La Cruz to get some shrimp at the fish market and went back on Sunday to go to the farmer’s market. By the time we were feeling better, we did go to La Isla for dinner on Saturday and caught up with Andres. We went to a new Italian restaurant called La Tarentelas, with Mario, Josée and Ryan. It wasn’t the best meal but we will give them another try.
Pogo started playing pickleball and running again and I started doing some jazzercise. We walked to Starbucks a few times. There is still a lot of construction. I had a mani-pedi. We went to the Nuevo Tuesday’s market. We went in the pool a few times. We watched some tv and read almost every nights. The waves have been really big since we arrived and the tide has also been high so no walks on the beach yet.
I caught up with all my blogs so I should be able to start writing a daily one from now on. Not sure it will be entertaining as we haven’t done much since arriving in Nuevo but we are loving relaxing.

That’s so lucky about the camera. Glad they had time to fix the condo before you arrived, I can only imagine how bad it was
