Mexico – Day 79

Shaun got up early to go fishing and caught a needlefish. He saw a dozen dead fish on the beach including a bright blue pufferfish with the whitest smile, probably hoping that Shaun would return him to the water but it wasn’t his lucky day.

We packed most of our bags, had breakfast and were ready to go on the ATVs at 10am. Pogo reached out to Granger at 10:20am since we were still waiting. He finally showed up at 10:30am with one. We had noticed 2 others in the parking lot. He confirmed that those belonged to Antonio’s his partner, who had brought them early and had left the keys with his sister who worked in the restaurant. It would have been nice if she had come to meet us at 10am….Anyway we finally left at 10:45am to go riding on the beach. It was even more crowded than 2 years ago with driftwood. We saw 2 dead turtles with lots of broken shells around their nests because of the birds eating their eggs. The waves were big and part of the foam created by the waves was bright green. We saw a fisherman on the lagoon. We took a lot of pictures and videos with Max’s 360 camera, Shaun’s gopro, Pogo’s drone and my iphone. Everyone was content with their content.

We finished packing and were on the road again by 1pm and went straight to the Botanical Gardens. I love going there! It is so colorful and beautiful, full of gorgeous displays of orchids, cacti and succulents and unique pots and statues. We had lunch at their restaurant. The food was delicious, we all had avocado with shrimp or with chicken, but the bugs were voracious. My feet and ankles were covered with bites by the time we left.

We made it home around 6pm. We had a cute little sign attached to the door from Mario and Josée welcoming us back.

We were so tired from all the traveling that we decided to order pizza for a late dinner and we watched a movie than crawled into bed.

Our escapade was so much fun and I was so grateful to have this special time with the kids.
