Mexico – Day 74

I woke up to Shaun’s message saying that he didn’t think he would make his connecting flight in Atlanta as his 6am flight left Burlington 38 minutes late. Delta told them they had printer problems. He didn’t make the connection but was booked on the next flight leaving at 11:30am and he arrived in PV at 1:30pm instead of noon, so not too bad.

Max’s stomach wasn’t feeling good so Pogo and I went to breakfast on our own to Mama Nena and we both had a delicious omelette with chorizo. I had a nice hummingbird surprise on my bed when we came back. We left for the airport at 1:20pm and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so crowded but the 4 of us were finally reunited and it felt so goooooddddd!!

We went back to the PV marina so Shaun could buy some fishing lures. Max and I went to Europa, a liquor store, to check their selection of tequila and mezcal. We then went to a popular local seafood restaurant called El Coleguita Mariscos and the kids had tostadas. We went to Chedraui to get shrimp for Shaun’s lures and ended up with a big bag of groceries.

We came back to the condo and went for a walk on the beach after introducing Shaun and Max to Mario and Josée. We went back to the condo to change and went to Cerveceria Bahia de Banderas, a local brewery that our beer lover son had found. It was in a section of Bucerias that we had never been. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived as it was really nice. Pogo and Shaun had beers and Max and I had cocktails with Mezcal. We shared some delicious crispy shrimp tacos wrapped in jicama instead of tortillas, and a fantastic artichoke dip. We will definitely go back.

Our next stop was downtown Bucerias to the Voodoo Monkee, a tiki bar. They had a 6 people band playing mostly reggae. They were really good but loud. When we arrived the place was almost empty but it got crowded pretty quickly. We were sitting outside and got surrounded by passerby that wanted to listen to the music. I went to the bathroom and there was a rag instead of a doorknob. I was hoping nobody else was going to come to the bathroom while I was there since there wasn’t a lock either. We had a drink there then moved across the street to a taco stand that had 3 tables. We all had tacos al pastor and they were so good that Pogo and Shaun ordered more. While I paid for the 9 tacos and 1 quesadilla, all for $10, Pogo went to get the car. We drove maybe 200 ft and stopped to get some churros. The stall was busy but there was not way we were leaving without a churro.

Shaun was exhausted by then as he had been up for 22 hours so we came home at 11pm and went to bed. Let’s just say we were excited parents to have our chicks back in the nest.
