Mexico – Day 58

I went to Bucerias this morning to do some shopping with Josée and Diane. I bought 2 rings and 2 bracelets. We stopped at a little café and had a yogurt and fruits while Josée’s favorite jewelry vendor was setting up. The bracelet she had seen there before was gone but she ended up buying one at a different vendor. I saw that the structure for the kissing bridge was finally installed but I don’t think it will be finished before we go back home.

Pogo and I went for lunch at La Gaviota and tried their fish tacos. They were huge and just as good as the shrimp tacos.

We went in the pool then dried out on the balcony. We rested for awhile then our friends came over for snacks and cocktails and we watched the 2 movies that Pogo had finished this morning, one about our boat trip and the other about whales and dolphins.

We all took a taxi to Punta de Mita to go for dinner at Casa Teresa. This Italian restaurant, hidden at the back of an alley, was incredible. It is owned by a young couple who got it from her mother. They were present all night long either to chat with the guests or to decanter the wine. It was all about the show. We were offered cocktails made skillfully by their mixologist before they brought us to our table in the beautifully decorated indoor courtyard. The drinks came with a “make a wish” little paper that they lit on fire as we made our wish. The wine was uncorked, filtered, twirled, smelled, tested, tasted and decantered all before it made it to our glasses. We had silk napkins on our table which was surrounded by small palm trees and arched openings in the wall.

The food was delicious. All 3 couples shared a caprese salad made with roasted apples instead of tomatoes. Pogo, Mario and Alain had the lasagna, their signature dish. Josée had the chicken parmesan, Diane the sea bass and I had the Spezzatino al Ragu, a braised ribs and sausage mixture on a tomato based rigatoni. It was very good but so big, I couldn’t finish it even after sharing a lot of it.

We got home around 10:30pm with a full belly. We need to stop feasting like this otherwise they will charge us for 2 extra seats on the plane.
