Mexico – Day 47

What a fantastic day we had!

After packing our lotion, hats, towels, change of clothes, drone, dramamine and seasickness watch (just in case but I finally didn’t need them because the boat had a stabilizer), we met our friends at the parking lot at 11:30am and followed someone to the marina. Mario had made arrangements to rent a beautiful 55ft yacht for the day.

We took off at noon on a very calm day. We went west and saw a lot of whales, mostly from afar. I took hundred of pictures of tiny black dots but of course when a few popped up close to us, my camera wasn’t ready.

We had hired a cook and we had great food non-stop: salsa, pico de gallo, tuna tartare, veggie platters, olives, shrimp cocktail, fruits and cheese platters, chicken and shrimp skewers. Our waiter was always there checking on refreshing our drinks: water, mojitos, margaritas, wine and beers.

We had space to hang out in the front of the boat, in the back and on top so people switched around all day. It was quite narrow to go from the front and back, maybe a foot wide, and we had to hold a bar in order not to lose balance especially me who doesn’t have “le pied marin”.

The Captain followed the coast and we saw gorgeous beaches and villages along the way. He stopped a few times for some of us to get a quick dip in the water and to snorkel. At the first stop, the waiter threw some bread in the water and gorgeous black and orange fish came to feed.

Pogo played music all day: reggae, disco, mexican, etc. After dinner, I picked a few “chansons à répondre” and everyone started singing, well maybe not Deidre and Derrick but they got into the beat anyway, playing imaginary wooden spoons with us.

We saw a beautiful sunset while the captain was proudly showing Pogo and I all the features and navigation instruments at his fingertips.

We got back to the marina at 8pm and went to Mario and Josée for a nightcap and some more chatting. Afterward Derrick went for a dip in the pool. And just like that, another memorable day, which wasn’t taken for granted and was truly appreciated by all, was over.
