Mexico – Day 29

Today was all about eating!

We took our regular walk with Derrick and Deidre to Starbucks. On the way back, we stopped at the bank and the machine kept Deidre’s card. They said to come back later so they could get someone to retrieve it.

We went for brunch at La Isla and it was as delicious as usual. Pogo and I shared our fruit platter and avocado toasts. Derrick had scrambled eggs with chorizo and Deidre tried a poached eggs with spinach cream dish that she said was amazing.

We walked back to the condo to get the car and drove back to the bank. Deidre got her card back and some pesos. She had convinced me to try pilates with her and had made a reservation for us tomorrow so we thought we would go look at the place but they were closed. We then stopped at a bike shop and Pogo and Derrick rented mountain bikes for today and tomorrow. I drove the car back to our condo….first time driving in Mexico. It wasn’t very far but I was still nervous.

We went in the pool but it felt pretty cold because it was so windy. We sat by the pool for a while but had to get ready for dinner before we knew it.

Derrick and Deidre had invited us for dinner in Punta de Mita to a restaurant they had been before called Tuna Blanca.

We first went to the roof top bar overlooking the ocean. We had the best nacho chips. They arrived hot and a little salty. Yum! They disappeared in a few minutes. Derrick was wearing my hat and Deidre’s sunglasses….sipping a big pina colada….no comments…. 🙂 Pogo teased Derrick and said his pina colada would probably help with his monthly cramping. Haha!

At 6pm, we went down to the restaurant and sat outside by the ocean. Derrick was still wearing my hat and Deidre’s sunglasses…. we all decided to do the temptation menu which consisted of a 5 courses meal. It was all very delicious but way too much food. I had the organic tomatoes and mozarella mousse, which was really tomatoes slices, a little cheese and pesto. Then I had the pig taco, the chargrilled octopus and the short rib birria style. The portion were smaller than if we had picked them a la carte but still big. By the time dessert arrived, I wasn’t able to finish it. Everybody else did finished theirs though. We finished the feast with a decaf cappucino. Not only the food was delicious but the presentation was amazing. We also had a very talented violin player entertaining us through dinner.

We rolled ourselves back to the car and drove back to Nuevo and went straight to bed.
