Mexico – Day 26

I woke up at 3:25am because people were shouting outside. It lasted a good 15 minutes. Jeez! I couldn’t tell if they were partying or looking for the incessant barking dogs but it was annoying nonetheless.

We took our friends to La Patrona Polo Club as they had never been. We arrived an hour earlier to show them the stables and also to have first pick at a table. Because of Covid, a few things had changed. They didn’t have the normal big buffet and bbq. Instead it was an à la carte menu. They also offered a new VIP section which consists of six canopies with a couch and 2 chairs, right by the field. For $175, normally $250, you get a bottle of champagne, cheese and meat, I assumed they meant charcuterie. The host told us that you still have a better view of the field by sitting on the 2nd floor of the building, which we did. The food was definitely not as good as before but the polo match was just as entertaining. At half time, we went on the field and we talked to a few polo players and learn a few more things about the game.

After leaving, we went to show them La Patrona Beach Club. It is quite nice and eventually we would like to go spend an afternoon there. We decided to discover a little more and drove around bumpy dirt roads in the middle of the jungle. We found a little road/path going down to the beach. We parked on the narrow street and walked down a very slippery path to the water. We discovered a beautiful little beach almost deserted. Only a few local families were enjoying it.

Next we went to the center of town and went to the beach for a drink and early dinner. I wasn’t even hungry by then but since everyone else was…We had margaritas, beers, quesadillas, shrimp salad and enchiladas. Did I mention guacamole and pico de gallo?

We walked around town a little and drove back home just in time for the sunset.

Shaun sent me another weird picture of the front of his house tinted in pink.

Max arrived in Mexico City with her friend Matt.
