Today we had our first little adventure if you can call it that. At least we discovered a few new villages. We are thinking at some point to rent a place in February for a few nights with our friends and their friends. I had found a beautiful hacienda through VRBO in Chacala, a village Pogo and I had wanted to discover. It was about 30 minutes after Rincon de Guayabitos, the farthest north we had been so far. Mario, JosΓ©e and Daniel took their own car. The drive was uneventful but stressful at times. I had forgotten all the cars taking chances in passing on the mountain road and so all the slow trucks trying to make it up the steep hills.
Even though we left at 9:30am, we arrived at 10am after a 1h 30min drive because of a time change on the way there. I had communicated with Daniel, the owner of the house we were interested in, and he had arranged with his property manager Javier to meet us to show us part of the house. Unfortunately, he was expecting the renters to be at the beach when we arrived but they were still at home so we just walked around the house. He showed us the private beach with the beach club. It was really beautiful, set in a small bay. The house we were interested in though wasnβt on the beach and didnβt have a view either of the ocean. I let the owner know we were not interested and we will be in touch with Javier about finding us one on the water if possible.
We drove through the village on our way out. There wasnβt anything special about it in our opinion.
On our way back, we first stopped at La PeΓ±ita. We parked and walked by the beach. It was really quiet and pretty. We walked a little bit around town and they had gorgeous murals. You could tell it is not a very touristy place and had a lot of charm.
Our next stop was Rincon de Guayabitos, to get lunch. We parked and were looking for a restaurant that our friends had been to before. The cobblestones were very uneven and I took a tumble, fell on my hands and one knee in the middle of the street. It didnβt feel good but at least there were no cuts. I walked with my eyes on the ground for the rest of the day.The restaurant itself was nothing to write home about but the Portuguese style chicken meal was delicious.
Afterward we walked to the beach and OMG was it crowded! I had never seen so many people there before. I guess being Saturday, and being a favorite spot for locals, might explain the crowds. I would not want to vacation there, especially during Covid times.
We drove through Sayulita on our way to Punta de Mita to avoid the mountain road. Sayulita was as crowded as usual. There were tables everywhere on the sidewalks and streets to accommodate the people who donβt want to eat indoors. Once in Punta de Mita we stopped at Paradise Lobster to have a drink on their balcony overlooking the ocean. There were dozens of pelicans diving for fish as well as surfers a little further away. So entertaining to watch.
We came home just in time to see another lovely sunset.

How gorgeous!
