October 5 and 6, 2024

This morning, after packing our bags, we met Derrick and Deidre for breakfast then said our goodbyes as they were flying back home to Vermont.

We called an Uber and drove an hour away to Disneyland at the Newport Bay Hotel. We arrived at 11:15am and of course our room wasn’t ready. We left our suitcases at the hotel and we took the shuttle to Disneyland. Being a Saturday, it was pretty busy. We slowly walked around to get a feel of the place. The castle was smaller than the one in Orlando but prettier.

We did a bunch of rides and I particularly loved Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion and Thunder Mountain. All 3 of them were much longer and with a lot more scenes than their Florida counterparts.

We went back to our hotel at 6:30pm and my legs were screaming for a rest. We got our room number and asked if our luggage had been sent to our room as requested and they had not been. We decided to check the two restaurants in the hotel as I didn’t feel like walking to the Disney Village but when we got back to our room, someone had just arrived with our luggage and Pogo saw him looking inside our plastic bags…that was just weird.

We went for dinner at 8pm, and I had a clam chowder and Pogo had a bouillabaisse.

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was sunny and I actually was hot for the first time on this trip.  Today the occasional rain was back. After bringing our luggage to be stored, we went back to the park and did a few more rides. Among others we went on Pogo’s favorite: It’s a Small World 🙂 and we went twice on my favorite: The Pirates of the Caribbean.  We also went back on Thunder Mountain. It was definitely less crowded so it was nice to just walk around.  

We then walked to Disney Village.  We, two Americans in France, had lunch at an Irish Pub which was playing reggae music…We walked back to the hotel and hung out at a café until it was time to go to the airport’s hotel. 

We arrived around 3:30pm, rested for a bit, went to the lounge for a bite to eat then I organized my bags before tomorrow’s flight to Montreal.
