Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 47-48

February 26 and 27, 2024

We left at 9:30am to go to breakfast and were surprised that Martha had not arrived yet. We found out 4 hours later that she had not come. She had sent a message to Pogo earlier to let him know that she had to take her mom to the doctor, but he had not noticed.

We went to El Sazon to Ama again and I had the same dish as before called Huevos Salvajes. The salsa was called roasted tomatillo and chile morita salsa. I let them put the salsa on top this time and it was so good! Pogo tried the eggs benedict.

We had brought our computer so Pogo took care of some important emails and we made some fall vacation plans. We talked to Mom and she had had a tooth removed a few days ago with stitches, was on antibiotics, but sounded as good as usual.

We stopped to see the progress on the new pickleball courts. We went to Chedraui to pick up a few things and I always love to look at unusual items. Today I found popcorn made with butterfinger and another made with fruity pebbles. HaHa!

I did some laundry, we sat on the balcony for awhile, Pogo went to the pickleball lesson. I sadly opted out because of my knee. I made a spaghetti sauce instead. We watched two more episodes of Griselda.

Tuesday morning, my PT was at 8am, so early…I was telling my therapist about my knee pains and he put 4 electrodes on each knees. My teeth were almost rattling. I was telling him that I had tried making an appointment with the doctor to discuss gel injections but I hadn’t gotten one until the next week because we were leaving for the next 3 days. The doctor happened to arrive then. The therapist went to talk to him and before I knew it, the doctor and his assistant were pushing a cart with the injections! I was like, wait a minute, can we talk about it first? I asked all of my questions and decided to do both knees. Instead of doing one injection a week for three weeks, he said that he gives his patients the three injections at once so I did too. I should know in a week if it worked. Then he told me that he had stopped at the office just to pick up something on his way to perform two surgeries. I guess I was lucky? Or he was lucky when I saw the bill…gulp…After having ice on my knees for 15 minutes, I went home. I could hardly walk to the car. Fingers crossed it works!! I skipped going to the market with Josée and Diane and I went home and put more ice on my knees for at least another 45 minutes and I took Advil.

Pogo came home from pickleball, rested then we went for a late breakfast at La Isla. We both tried something new from their menu: Birria for Pogo and Chilaquiles for me. All very good. We saw some chachalacas. They look like small roadrunners to me.

The afternoon was spent nursing my knees on the couch and on the balcony.

We went for dinner at Alain and Diane to celebrate Alain’s birthday. We had a lovely time getting to know Sam and Tanya. Dinner was delicious and we had great conversations, mostly about planning a trip next year for my 65th birthday and Josée’s 60th birthday. Diane will be coming as the coordinator and the boys will come to carry our luggage. 🙂 I forgot with all the wine, that my knees hurt. It was a great evening!
