Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 37-38

February 16 and 17, 2024

Another day, another grey sky. We had breakfast at the condo then went with Mario and Josée to a new restaurant/bar that had just opened 2 months ago called the Wine Corner. We arrived a little after 1pm to find out that just a few items on the menu were available until 2pm. We ordered drinks and my cosmopolitan was really good. Josée didn’t care for her wine. We had a few delicious tapas: bruschetta rustica and brie and serrano ham. At 2pm, we ordered pizzas and pastrami sandwiches to share. Our mushroom and spanish sausage pizza was a little dry. Mario’s had a blue cheese, apple, pear and honey pizza. I had a bite and thought it was much better than ours.

I facetimed with Irene.

At 4:30pm, we went to Mario and Josée’s condo. Pogo called the caterer who didn’t speak English, to discuss the party menu. Meanwhile Josée beat me fair and square at a game of dice. (I had to say that because she was upset that I said I let her win the last game, haha!).

We got home a little bit after 7pm, after a doctor’s appointment, and saw a ton of noisy and messy birds in a tree. We had a huge storm! It was raining really hard and it was very windy. The sliding doors were rattling. We heard the thunder as well.

We were still full from our late lunch so we just had chips and salsa and watched the first episode of the series The Tourist.

Saturday morning, after the weirdest weather this past week, the sun was finally back!! The chairs and palapas were quickly occupied and the beach got busy. I facetimed with Michel and heard all about their plans for their upcoming trip to Japan. It’s going to be awesome!

Pogo had gone to pickleball and didn’t feel really good so we stayed in later than planned but finally went to La Isla for a late breakfast. Graciela gave me a rose for Valentine’s Day. There were so many iguanas munching in the parking lot, at least 20 of them at some point. One tried to go to the street but the servers shooed it back toward the back.

We went to Paradise Village to get a few groceries. There was a regatta in the bay. People were enjoying the waves. Pogo wanted to rest a little more so I did some laundry and cleaned the fridge. Pogo’s Apple Watch stopped working a few weeks ago and he was having withdrawals so he went to an Apple store at the PV Marina but they didn’t have the watch he wanted.

We went back to La Isla for dinner, why not, because we were craving ribs. Their pico de gallo was so good! The ribs were so tender, the meat was coming off the bones. We watched the second episode of The Tourist. We had a little visitor in our bedroom when we went to bed.

Shaun’s travels update:

They spent their last day going from Disney hotels to Disney hotels using the skyliner, sampling food and NA drinks. They went to Winter Summerland miniature golf, a two 18-holes Christmas themed mini golf courses, one for summer and one for winter. They play Christmas music. What’s not to like? I love it there! They flew home on Saturday morning on a new direct flight from Orlando to Burlington with Breeze Airways. It took them only 2 1/2 hours. They arrived to a cold and snowy Vermont but with great memories of a fun vacation.

Maxime’s travels update:

She spent her last few days in Siquijor discovering the island. They went to Cambugahay Falls, rode trikes (motorcycle with seating), went to the beach and made some furry work friends. She had brought her clothes to the laundry store and when she went to pick them up the next day, no one was there so they missed their ferry. They were forced to spend another night in Siquijor and the only accommodation available was a weird looking place that they nicknamed the Clown House. Their room had a window in the hallway and it didn’t lock.
