Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 31-32

February 10 and 11, 2024

It was a grey and depressing day. We did see a bunch of dolphins frolicking. Pogo droned over them. Josée sent me a cute picture of Ryan. We didn’t do much besides going to Vallarta Beer Garden at 3:30pm. We had driven in front of that big ugly black building with no curb appeal multiple times but decided to go after learning more about it on Facebook. We are always looking for new places to go. They had a big parking lot behind the wall. They had a big selection of beers including non alcoholic but also a full bar. The food was really good, at least what we decided to try. We had the sliders and the birria fries, their Mexican twist on a poutine, with stringy Oaxaca cheese, salsa, sour cream, guacamole and cilantro and of course birria. We will definitely go back.

The sun peaked for 15 seconds so I could take a sunset picture. We continued binge watching the traitor.

We didn’t do much Sunday morning. The sky was grey again in the morning. Feeling a little blue. Missing the kids.

We met Mario and Josée at Mozza Mare for lunch then went to Dee and Michel to watch the SuperBowl. Not the most exciting game but a great nail biting finish! Taylor Swift won! :) Dee didn’t realized that we would be interested in watching the game but enjoyed watching us watching the game.

Shaun’s travels update:

Shaun and Sarah arrived in Florida on Saturday. Sarah sent me a picture of the two of them at the airport wearing mustaches, saying: Matching airport looks for the win! HaHa! Cute and funny filter! Shaun had a great first day fishing in Florida. He caught a bunch of new species to him: sheepshead, puffer fish, mangrove snapper and black head catfish. Some have crazy teeth!! He watched the SuperBowl of course. He was hoping for San Francisco to win.

Max’s travels update:

She spent time in Coconut Beach and White Beach in Port Barton. She then said goodbye to her new French, American and Estonian friends and took a 3 hour bus ride to Puerto Princesa, the capital of Palawan where the major airport is and where she will be flying from tomorrow. The bus ride was very fast and curvy. She felt sick to her stomach but she didn’t care because she said it was one of the most beautiful drives she had ever been on. Tomorrow she will be traveling from 8:30am to 8:30pm to Siguijor Island. Everyone she met that had traveled through the Philippines said it was their favorite island. There are no direct way to go there, just a lot of connections and ferries. This is what she said about Siquijor Island:

Siquijor Island is a mystical and enchanting destination, known for its tropical lagoons, white sand beaches, mesmerizing waterfalls, lush forests, and spiritual healers. What truly sets Siquijor apart is its reputation for being haunted, with tales of witchcraft, healing rituals, and mystical creatures that captivate the imagination of visitors and locals alike. Its long-standing reputation of being haunted and its association with sorcery and black magic give it a mystical feel, adding to its allure and making it a truly beautiful and bewitching destination. The island’s unique blend of natural beauty, folklore, and spiritual traditions, including the practice of ancestral healing, sets it apart as a one-of-a-kind destination in the Philippines.
