Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico – Day 7-8

January 17 and 18, 2023

We left around 9:30am and went to Proyecto Darwin for breakfast, our usual stop now when we go for our drive along the Ameca River. Breakfast was delicious. Mom had an omelette, Pogo had a choripan sandwich and I had a french toast casserole.

We didn’t do too many stops but we drove through Valle de Banderas, San Juan de Abajo, El Colomo and all the way to Aguamilpa. We saw a lot of birds, horses, cows, dogs and dust. The river was drier than ever before.

We had our usual lunch at Restaurante Rio Ameca where the food is good and cheap and the tires decorations still entertaining. Talking about entertaining, we saw a man on a unicycle juggling machetes at a red light.

We came home at 3:30pm, had a rest then went to play pickleball with our friends at 5pm. It had been cloudy all day so we didn’t have the late afternoon sun in our eyes but it was so humid, that we were drenched in no time. We still had a great time. We caught the end of another crazy sunset.

Mom wasn’t feeling great. She had been coughing all day long. She had leftover enchiladas and went to bed very early. Pogo and I had filet mignon on the bbq with potatoes. Not a very pretty dish but very delicious dish.

Thursday morning, Pogo went to pickleball. Mom woke up coughing a lot more. She was a little worried about it as we were since it was getting worse. She had breakfast and went back to bed. I met Pogo for breakfast and afterwards we went to the clinic besides Starbucks as well as the emergency at the hospital to see where would be the best place to bring her. We finally brought her to the clinic. The doctor diagnosed a bacterial infection. He prescribed an antibiotic, a cough syrup, a decongestant and told her to take Tylenol and Advil. He said that she should rest and that she would start feeling better in a few days.

We didn’t do much the rest of the afternoon. We sat on the beach for about 45 minutes with our friends before going up to make dinner. Pogo and I went to get our “rented table” from Mario and Josée and we had burgers on the balcony. It had been another mostly cloudy day so we didn’t see the sun setting but the clouds were crazy colorful once again.

Maxime’s update:

She flew 13hrs from Montreal to Narita airport, had a fantastic flight in business class, saw the artic sunset and enjoyed every minute of it. She didn’t sleep at all. Unfortunately the lounge where she was planning on showering and eating had closed just 5 minutes before she got there so she went to another lounge with no food or bathroom! what kind of lounge is that? She then took a bus to the Tokyo airport to catch her next 8hrs flight to Kuala Lumpur. She was hoping to finally sleep and she did for the whole flight. She arrived at 6am local time in Kuala Lumpur so she rented an hotel room at the airport for 6 hours including 2 meals for $30.
