For whatever reason, I woke up at 4:15am and couldn’t go back to sleep so I read on the couch until Pogo got up. We had breakfast then drove to Bucerias around 11:30am to see how it had changed.
They are still putting up big condo buildings on the beach which is sad because you don’t see the beach easily anymore. They reconstructed the kissing bridge and it is so high and steep! You couldn’t bring a wheelchair on it and it would be difficult to bring a bike. The tiles they chose were slippery with the sand on them so it must be pretty slippery when it rains.
We walked through the narrow alleys of the vendors and through the old part. We were glad to have parked on the new side of town as all the streets were closed to traffic. They were setting up a midway in a field and on the streets. It is the week of the Blessing of the Boats festival and there are all kinds of events planned.
We came back to the other side and had lunch at the Red Apple. It is a local family owned restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building and they almost lost all the views of the ocean because of all the new construction. We shared a BLT and some fish tacos.
We came back and decided to take a nap but Ryan came down and asked me to play cards, so I could I say no? He was really excited about his Mom flying in today. We played 2 games then Pogo drove Mario, Josée and Ryan to the airport, while I took a shower and prepped shrimp cocktail and olives to bring to Dee and Michel who had invited us over for cheese, beer and wine. They had rented a penthouse at Ocean Terrace this year and were not happy with how the condo was versus the pictures they saw. The owner is not flexible at all for replacing what is missing or broken. We had a lovely evening together. We watched a little tv on our return and went to bed around 10pm.
