Oaxaca, Mexico- Day 11

October 28 2022

I spent part of the morning writing yesterday’s blog then Pogo and I went for breakfast. Max had not slept well so she caught up on sleep.  We went back to Chepiche café. Pogo had French toasts and I had avocado toasts.

We went back to the house to pick Max up and we walked downtown to do a little shopping. She bought a few tops and a beautiful bag. Everywhere I looked was picture perfect! Marigolds (cempasuchil) and Catrinas were everywhere!  Max is so obsessed with Tiliches that I am becoming as well.  I  bought us both a little statue of one and got gorgeous Tiliches earrings for Max.

Pogo who had walked with us, went to a rooftop to catch up on emails and to try to find someone to look at our foundation. We had a crew starting today on redoing our porches and they discovered that there was a major problem with our house foundation sagging in places, when they removed the back deck flooring. They also told us that they will need to redo most of the framing and add cement foundation for the deck support. Great!!

Max and I ran into a wedding and it was so much fun to watch!  The happy couple and their guests were dancing In circle in front of the church with Tiliches and tall bride and groom puppets while a big group of musicians were playing festive music.

We did more shopping then joined Pogo on the rooftop for a couple of agua frescas. We were so thirsty!  Pogo had ordered a few appetizers but I wasn’t hungry at all. He flew his drone for awhile and he went back home while Max and I did a little more shopping.  This time I found a few tops.

We had just called a Didi (same as a Uber) but had to cancel because a parade blocked the street. It looked like it was organized by a school as it was mostly kids who were all disguised. There were soooo many of them! They were so cute to watch!

We finally took a taxi home. Max was expecting Hernan, her boyfriend, to arrive at 5pm by bus from Mexico City after his flight from Cancun but he was delayed and arrived only at 7pm. While we were waiting, she ordered a few pizzas and sandwiches as she was starving.  Pizza became our dinner.  She then drove to pick him up at the bus station.  We finally met Hernan for the first time and the jury is still out.  Just kidding! He is a really nice guy!

We chatted for a little while then we enjoyed a little parade on our street from our balcony. Max and Hernan left at 9pm to go to Centro but Pogo and I decided to call it a night.
