Puebla Mexico -Day 2

October 19 2022

We all needed a good night sleep so we met at 9:45am in the hotel restaurant for coffee.

We went to the rooftop to look at the pool area, gym and the spa. We left the hotel around 10:30am and strolled around the old part of town on our way to brunch. We stopped at the Biblioteca Palafoxiana, the oldest public library in the Americas, founded in 1646. It was small but really beautiful. We had a delicious brunch at a gorgeous restaurant called Mural Poblanos.

We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the historic center of Puebla. We visited the Catedral de Puebla, took pictures in hidden courtyards of bars and restaurants, saw countless religious stores and beautiful murals. We had a drink in a small bar called El Idolo de Mexico. It looked like what a saloon would have looked like in the days and it was also a tribute to singer Pedro Infante. We had to stop there when we saw a lonely cowboy sitting at the bar.
We also stopped at another place called La Pasita where they served only shots. We all had a shot of Pasita which tasted exactly like Kahlua. It was served with a piece of cheese and a raisin. They told us to first have a bite of cheese then a sip of liquor. It was a fun experience to just stand at little counter, have a quick drink and leave while other people were waiting to do the same thing.

We did a little shopping in antique shops and Max bought an old movie poster. we had a refreshment in a cute little hidden restaurant.

We came back to the hotel at 4:30pm for a rest.

We took an Uber to Casa de Miel to try Mezcals from Puebla. It wasn’t a success. A guy sitting beside Max was chatting with her the whole time and before we knew it, we had invited him for dinner. We walked to a little local place called Antojitos Tomy and shared cemitas and chalupas. We said our goodbyes to Alejandro after he gave us a few good suggestions for places to visit on the morrow.
The owner of the hotel had asked Max to promote his mezcal business as well so we sampled a few of his brand called Promesa when we went back to the hotel. It wasn’t a success either. We were back in our rooms by 9:30pm.
