We drove to Starbucks because I was having my hair colored just next door and didn’t want to arrive there all sweaty. The line at Starbucks was so long that Pogo had to bring me my refresher to the salon.
He picked me up at 11:30am and we drove to Mezcales to find some pollo asado since I was craving it. On the way there, Pogo decided to go through a red light at a busy intersection and we were pulled over. The policeman was very nice. He told us that the ticket would be 880 pesos and payable at the station. Pogo asked if we could pay him instead. The policeman said we could but we all knew it would be a bribe so we decided to get the ticket. He took Pogo’s driver’s licence and we will have to go to Mega to retrieve it and pay for the ticket on Monday. Bummer. He can still drive the car without his licence and if he gets stopped again, he just has to show the ticket.
We made it to Mezcales and the place Pogo had found on Google maps ended up being a grill in a dirty alley surrounded by garbage so we went to Bucerias to a place called Pollo Feliz, a popular fast food chain of restaurant. They had 2 tables only as it is mostly for pickup orders. The chicken was good but the sides of rice and coleslaw were not great.
Back at the condo, we Facetimed Shaun and caught up with him for about an hour. It was so nice seeing him in person. We made plans for his and Max’s upcoming trip. I can’t wait to be with them!
The tide was low so we went for our walk on the beach. Being Saturday, the public access to the beach was crazy busy with local families. We went to the wall and back and I was dying of heat despite the ocean breeze. Never a good idea to walk in the middle of the day. We jumped in the pool to cool off for a while and chatted with Norbert and Olga about restaurants. They spend 5 months here every year but she doesn’t like Mexican food so all their recommendations were to Italian places.
We had decided to stay in for dinner so Pogo made a cucumber salad, similar to the one at Nicksan, the Japanese restaurant next door, and in my opinion, it was just as good. I prepared a bunch of appetizers. Just as we were ready to watch TV, we heard fireworks next door so we went on the balcony to watch them. They were pretty!

Hummmmm! Why doesn’t your neighbor spend 5 months in Italy instead?🤔
