Sylvie's Travels Home

After breakfast, we decided to go to Bucerias on our quest to find cocktail sauce. We had bought cooked shrimp at Costco for the purpose of having shrimp cocktail but so far had not found any. Pogo posted a request on Facebook and people gave us a few places to check. The one in Bucerias was a bust. 

I thought Nuevo had a lot of construction but the newer side of Bucerias is even worse! Big condo buildings are halfway done. They took over a favorite restaurant on the beach called Zukha Beach House and the lot is being ready for construction. The restaurant has moved to a new location but we don’t know where yet. Luna Luna, another restaurant we used to love to go for breakfast has been bulldozed over. So sad! 

The kissing bridge which crossed from the new to the old side of Bucerias is also gone. They are working on the river bed and putting walls to contain the water and debris from when it is the rainy season. I heard they will eventually build it back but no one knows when it will happen. 

There are hardly any vendors on the streets and I saw only a few pompoms 😦 Very depressing. 

We walked on the beach to get to the older side and opted to have lunch at Los Dorados de Villa, an authentic little hole in the wall kind of restaurant. You know it’s good when most of the customers are Mexicans. We had crispy and cheesy Birrias and also a Chorizo Quesadilla washed down with tangerine agua fresca and horchata. 

We walked back to the new side following the highway instead of walking in the sand. 

We drove back to Nuevo and stopped at the Paradise Village Sunset market and finally found the cocktail sauce!! We celebrated with a little gelato before coming home. After his nap, Pogo went for a run on the beach and then we went to the pool around 5pm. Mario brought margaritas to us, Josée and Daniel, their friend who just arrived today. We stayed in the pool until after the sunset and then went up and had shrimp with avocado and the very precious cocktail sauce.
